Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located within District II, Carson City. Incumbent prepares and performs classroom instruction and hands on training to department employee's in accordance with the equipment operator training and certification program, up to and including certification in proper service and operation of various types of heavy equipment; assists and provides guidance during investigations on drug/alcohol violations; provides Safety, Traffic Control, Flagging Procedure, Hazardous Communication, CPR/First Aid training, and assists with the CDL Training program. Duties also include conducting safety inspections of equipment, yards, maintenance stations and work zones throughout the Carson City, Gardnerville, and Wellington areas to address unsafe working conditions or safety violations; and investigates vehicle, personal injury, and property damage accidents involving agency personnel or vehicles.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience operating a variety of complex highway construction and maintenance equipment; OR three years of experience as Highway Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A valid Class A or B commercial driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. |
|
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. In addition, federal law required random testing for controlled substances during employment. |
