The Position
Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisors and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors manage a caseload budget; determine eligibility or ineligibility; assess vocational rehabilitation needs; develop individualized plans for employment (IPE); coordinate the delivery of services; provide counseling and advocacy services; provide appropriate job placement; and determine employment outcome in order to minimize disabling conditions and reduce dependency for individuals whose mental or physical disability presents a barrier to employment and/or self-sufficiency.
This Rehabilitation Counselor III (RC III) position manages a specialty caseload of individuals who are blind or have visual impairments. RC III's also make eligibility decisions for program services; provide each eligible individual sufficient counseling and guidance to assist him/her to complete an adequate assessment of vocational needs; develop Individual Plans for Employment (IPE) and assist clients in making informed choices in the development of their IPEs; manage each case in a manner that ensures appropriate and timely case movement and delivery of services; ensure that adequate and accurate case documentation is in each case file; ensure all case expenditures are appropriate; complete required actions with sufficient written documentation and justification in every participant record as required to obtain the required number of employment outcomes; complete all required supervisory courses within required time frames; effectively lead their team and promote efficient work flow and production; investigate complaints regarding their staff, and as appropriate, provide mediation to resolve complaints; take progressive corrective action when necessary and monitor improvement; consult and collaborate with management when dealing with significant issues and in situations where it appears prudent and appropriate to do so; provide their staff with adequate direction, training and instruction; complete the evaluation of staff in a consistent and timely manner; throughout the year complete reviews of case files for subordinate staff; provide feedback in a productive, consistent and timely manner; and provide quality customer service, utilizing all relevant, professional skills. This position will be located at the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation in our Las Vegas Vocational Rehabilitation office.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling or health, social or other related behavioral science, and one year of journey level experience as a Rehabilitation Counselor which must have included making eligibility, ineligibility and employment outcome determinations by applying federal, state and agency regulations, policies and procedures for a public vocational rehabilitation program; negotiating and resolving conflicts; and performing community outreach public relations activities for an assigned program; OR one year experience as a Rehabilitation Counselor II in Nevada State service.
Special Requirements
    Proof of eligibility to sit for the Rehabilitation Counselor Certification exam from the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification is required at the time of application. Go to www.crccertification. com to view eligibility requirements.

The Examination
