Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.

This position is located with Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (NNAMHS) in Sparks, NV. The Mental Health Counselor 3 will participate in treatment planning and implementation by attending treatment team meetings, case conferences, conduct intervention sessions with clients, and manage a small caseload; and will act as an advocate through interactions with external agencies and organizations. This position requires reporting client contacts and progress by documenting information utilizing the electronic medical record on computer. This position also supervises lower level Mental Health Counselors and Psychiatric Caseworkers in providing services to other consumers of mental health services in the community setting. Supervisory duties include performance evaluations, training, assigning and reviewing work, counseling and discipline. Management duties include overseeing the delivery of professional services, responsibility for staff coverage, space and equipment needs, budget development and monitoring, developing policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, program guidelines, and agency policy.
