JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.

The Public Service Intern will represent the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection/Bureau of Waste Management working with the Southern Nevada Recycling Coordinator. Duties include assisting in development of lesson plans for grades K through 12 on various aspects of recycling and conducting presentations in the classroom, at assemblies, outdoor events and teacher workshops. Work will also include attendance at Earth Day events, developing and conducting educational presentations, and various tasks associated with recycling aimed at increasing recycling rate in Southern Nevada. Candidates should be comfortable with working in a classroom setting and speaking in front of large groups. Interns who are undergraduate students are required to complete at least six (6) semester units during each Fall, Winter, and Spring quarter while employed in the position. A report of completion from the respective college or university indicating that these minimum requirements have been met must be submitted to the Personnel Analyst within 30 days of the conclusion of each semester. Employment as a Public Service Intern with the Division will not exceed three (3) years.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or the equivalent and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university.
Special Notes
Employment is not to exceed six months from the date of graduation.
Employment in this class will not lead to permanent status in State service.
