Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located within the Information Technology Division, Desktop Support Section in Carson City. Under limited supervision, incumbent installs and repairs workstation hardware and software on a LAN, troubleshoots hardware and software problems both on-site and at remote locations, consults with management to determine automation requirements, tests hardware and evaluates software licensing options, and makes recommendations in relation to identified needs for over 1700 computer systems Statewide. Systems include desktop computers, laptops, tablets, printers and related peripherals. Duties also require planning and installing network infrastructure, conducting routine analysis of network hardware and software, and providing for data security and recovery. Up to 25% travel is required for this position.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of experience as an IT Technician V in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
