Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
The Accounting Assistant 2 is assigned to the Accounting Unit of the Public Employees' Benefits Program (PEBP). This position is responsible for processing documents such as invoices and packing slips to facilitate payments to all PEBP vendors. Audit travel claims for accuracy and compliance with the State Administrative Manual and PEBP Policy and Procedures and processing appropriate reimbursement payments. Prepare accounting documents for scanning and indexing in PEBP's imaging system. Maintain fixed asset records according to State inventory control requirements. This position is the payroll clerk for PEPB and is responsible for ensuring time sheets are entered into NEATS timely, processing special pay adjustments, tracking FMLA and catastrophic leave balances. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents; using computer spreadsheets to record, track, manipulate and report data; balancing accounts; and identifying and applying established financial recordkeeping procedures; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
