Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of Health and Human Services - Sierra Regional Center in Sparks, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and promotes a positive work environment. The mission of the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible.
This position will be responsible for performing site reviews of Medicaid providers, intake duties for new recipients, processing provider billing, data entry, and other clerical duties within the office.
This position is responsible for completion of nursing assessments as required by Nevada Medicaid Waiver for individuals with intellectual disabilities or related conditions; provision of consultation for persons served, families, teams, agency committees; providing information and recommendations for health care and follow-up; education and resource development regarding health care issues and preventive health care, which is age and gender appropriate; advocacy for persons served related to health care issues; quality assurance oversight of contracted supported living providers; and provision of skilled nursing intervention per physician's order.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada and two years of professional nursing experience, one of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness or intellectual disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Nurse I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A Bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or Associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience.

CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
|
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |
