Administrative Assistants perform a variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties such as maintaining records and files; composing and editing correspondence; data entry; office management; and budget monitoring.

The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services is recruiting for a vacancy located in the Energy Assistance Program (EAP) in Carson City. The incumbent will make eligibility determinations based on established program policy and procedure. This includes screening documentation for completeness, reviewing and evaluating information provided by clients and external entities, and budgeting income. The incumbent will also explain program rules and reporting requirements to clients, serve as a liaison between the Energy Assistance Program and other agencies and departments, and may refer clients to other community services as appropriate.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Experience
This position requires work experience in a public assistance setting that included reviewing applications for services to ensure completion and proper document attachments. Examples of a public assistance program are Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Energy Assistance Program (EAP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid and Child Care Subsidy Program.
CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
