Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The incumbent will maintain overall herd health, production, and lactation cycle of dairy cows; calculate feed rations with forage available and supplement as needed; oversee milk processing in accordance with Pasteurized Milk Ordinance of HTST system; supervise up to 50 inmates indirectly and 10 directly; and maintain equipment and records on entire dairy. Knowledge of calving and heifer production is critical.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Two years of experience in the care and milking of a dairy herd producing milk for sale including operation and maintenance of mechanical milkers and milk processing equipment, one of which was at a supervisory level; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
