Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to mentally ill and/or mentally and physically ill or disabled individuals, in an institution or outpatient setting.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This integrated Psychiatric Nurse 2 position is located in Ely NV, providing both public and behavioral healthcare to the community. Overall responsibilities will include reproductive health, immunizations, infectious disease, STD's, depression screenings, and substance abuse screens. This position will participate in the Local Emergency Planning Committee, as well as the Board of Health meeting, and have close collaboration with the Rural Clinic, Behavioral Health Team in Ely. Familiarity with Electronic Health Records and documentation in numerous programs is preferred. This is a great position for a well-organized, autonomous professional Nurse. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada and two years of professional nursing experience, one of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness or intellectual disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Nurse I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
