Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVACR) Specialist's perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
In a correctional environment, the HVACR Specialist II will lead an inmate crew and install, perform preventative maintenance, maintain auxiliary equipment, inspect equipment for proper functioning, repair and modify equipment, troubleshoot electrical circuits associated with heating and air conditioning systems, diagnose equipment failure, and install new components. The incumbent is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair and modification of a major facility's heating, ventilation, air conditioning and/or refrigeration related issues. Inmate performance is documented through completion of periodic progress reports. Incumbents are responsible for implementing security procedures to include securing the work area from unauthorized inmates and accountability for assigned inmates, staff, tools and equipment.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Completion of a recognized HVACR apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level experience in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment; OR one year of experience as a HVACR Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Journey level experience is gained after the completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or after four years of skilled work in a trade under the supervision of a journey level trades worker. |

This position requires the incumbent to be EPA certified to recover refrigerant and recharge equipment. |
|
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. |
|
