JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Compliance Investigators perform investigations regarding violations of federal and/or State laws or regulations pertaining to a specific State program or regulatory area such as public assistance, real estate, insurance, employment discrimination or sexual harassment. The investigative process is initiated following a formal complaint or suspected violation utilizing standard investigative techniques. Incumbents are not sworn peace officers, and enforcement actions are limited to the specific program or regulatory area and involve informal resolution and/or recommendations for administrative sanctions or penalties which are imposed by a higher authority.
The Supervisory Compliance Investigator has supervisory responsibility
for a large staff of compliance investigators and conducts the more complex or high profile investigations.
This position is with the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services and is located in Las Vegas, Nevada and requires the
incumbent to have a thorough knowledge of public assistance programs and detailed knowledge of civil law and related criminal law to enforce program regulations as well as state and federal laws. Under general supervision of a program manager and/or program chief, the incumbent will provide training to new investigators, prepare employee performance appraisals, supervise and coordinate the investigative process and make final recommendations regarding investigative reports for sanction or prosecution. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, police science, psychology, social work, business administration or other discipline related to the assignment and two years of investigative experience as an investigator in a specified program area where standard investigative techniques were utilized to make program compliance determinations and prepare detailed reports for the purpose of justifying administrative sanctions, penalties or criminal prosecution. Work experience may be obtained in a law enforcement, investigative, regulatory or comparable setting; OR graduation from high school or equivalent (GED) education and four years of investigative experience as outlined above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR two years of experience as a Compliance Investigator II in State service.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Experience conducting public assistance fraud investigations in one or more of the following: TANF, WIC, SNAP, Medicaid, Child Care or Energy Assistance is required.
The Examination

The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
