JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Equipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify fleet equipment comprised of a variety of light, medium, and heavy automotive and maintenance equipment, landscape equipment, computerized testing equipment, and diesel-fueled electric power generators.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position provides mechanical services to the Nevada Division of Forestry fire and forest resource management fleet for the Western Region out of the Eastlake office. Due to the emergency service mission of the fire districts, the incumbent may be asked to work extended shifts, holidays and/or weekends. The incumbent may be required to work in adverse weather conditions. Computer and database experience is a plus.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Completion of a recognized automotive/equipment repair apprenticeship program; OR completion of the Equipment Mechanic-In-Training program in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
Incumbent is required to furnish their own mechanic's tools.
A Class A or B commercial driver's license is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
This position may require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
