The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services is recruiting for a vacancy located in the Information Services unit in Carson City. The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, software, and mobile devices. Under general supervision and direction of the IT Professional II, this position will provide tier two support to the agency helpdesk and its clients by addressing customer issues through the agency ticketing system, phone and email support, as well as desk side and remote assistance. This position also acts as an escalation point for the other IT Technicians within the desktop support team. Under general supervision, incumbent will provide network support and consult with users to determine automation requirements; make hardware and software recommendations in relation to identified needs. Incumbent will also upgrade, repair, or replace software and hardware components on workstations; add memory, swap hard disk drives and monitors; attach peripherals; and configure and install desktop applications for optimum performance. Travel up to 50% or more will be required as this position supports offices throughout Northern Nevada. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician IV in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
