Information Technology (IT) Managers are responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the IT activities, in one or more IT specialization areas, of the State, a department, or a division.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
The Department of Administration, Division of Enterprise Information Technology Services is seeking an experienced leader to provide vision, strategy, broad-based planning, and hands-on responsibility as the State's Chief Information Security Officer. This position works under the direction of the Nevada State Chief Information Officer (CIO) and manages the State's information security program. The Chief Information Security Officer provides leadership to the State Security Committee in planning, developing, and implementing information security initiatives at the statewide level. Ideal candidates will have strong communication and public speaking abilities as well as possess an advanced understanding in one or more of the following areas: (1) Data Security; (2)Network Security; (3)Security Assessment Tools; (4) Security Governance Standards; (5) Business Continuity Planning; (6) Computer Security Incident Response; (7) Security Compliance Audits; (8) Cyber Security; (9) Security Requirements for Law Enforcement; and/or (10) Information Security industry standards/best practices and relevant federal and state regulations (e.g., IRS, HIPAA, etc.).
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and eight years of progressively responsible professional IT experience which involved strategic planning, project management, quality assurance, and computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, or information security. Five years of this experience must have been in a supervisory or project manager capacity; OR one year of experience as an IT Manager III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

CISSP or CISM certification must be obtained within 12 months of appointment and maintained as a condition of continued employment.
|
