Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.

This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services - Desert Regional Center (DRC) in Las Vegas in the Business Office, and will be located in Las Vegas, NV. The mission of the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible.
This recruitment is for an Accounting Assistant 2 vacancy at Desert Regional Center (DRC) in Las Vegas in the Business Office. The selected candidate needs to be a team player, provide a high level of professional support, use initiative, experience and skills to troubleshoot, problem solve, and provide proactive solutions as needed. This position will support the business office in its responsibilities to manage the agencies financial resources in supporting individuals who qualify for DRC services.
This position is assigned to the Accounts Payable team with responsibilities including: A) Preparing purchase orders for the ICF/ID campus; B) Processing payments to vendors while comparing expenditure documents with supporting documentation, contacting vendors for any discrepancies and determining accounting budgets code for purchases; C) Independently compiling and consolidating detailed and complex information related to agency operation from external sources to make decisions and monitor various accounts; D) Creating and/or maintaining Excel spreadsheets (including formulas) to organize, display and summarize data; and E) entering payment documents in the State Financial System.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents; using computer spreadsheets to record, track, manipulate and report data; balancing accounts; and identifying and applying established financial recordkeeping procedures; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.

CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
Qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
