The Position
Equipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify fleet equipment comprised of a variety of light, medium, and heavy automotive and maintenance equipment, landscape equipment, computerized testing equipment, and diesel-fueled electric power generators. 
This position performs all scheduled maintenance on Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) vehicles operating in the assigned command; maintains division vehicle maintenance records and files; and maintains parts inventory controls and follows Division guidelines for proper procurement of parts at the lowest cost to the Division; completes new vehicle builds as required; attends all training classes as required by the Division; and inspects all NHP vehicles that are involved in accidents to advise what course of action is needed to repair the vehicle. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of all test equipment used in our assigned maintenance shop; and the ability to inspect, diagnose, and test all operators' complaints.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Completion of a recognized automotive/equipment repair apprenticeship program; OR completion of the Equipment Mechanic-In-Training program in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
