The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This position is located within the Information Technology Division, in Carson City. Under general supervision, the incumbent will provide a wide range of technical report writing and report design efforts using the Department of Transportation (NDOT) IT's current tool suite Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE).
While performing both independently and with the co-operative efforts of division analysts, this incumbent will create tabular reports, both static and dynamic graphs, and include GIS enhancements where applicable. OBIEE report components will include; OBIEE Analytics objects (analyses, filters, prompts, and dashboards), OBIEE Publisher objects (reports and templates), and SmartView. OBIEE administrative activities will support data warehouse maintenance using Oracle Data Integrator. With the assistance of NDOT DBAs and business users, the incumbent will identify, build, and maintain appropriate data models for OBIEE data objects at the three data object levels: Physical Level, Business (Logical) Level, and Presentation Level. Data modeling, testing, maintenance, and documentation are required in most aspects of product delivery. JavaScript, SQL query, Excel, and other products may be used to support regular activities. Strong interpersonal skills are required for mid-level consultations and user training in the OBIEE Analytics interface. The incumbent will be an active participant in the agency's Oracle Discoverer migration to Analytics. An extended knowledge of the existing niche market for business intelligence tools will open additional opportunities for project participation. Women and under-represented groups are encouraged to apply. Nevada Department of Transportation is committed to Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action in recruitment of its employees and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion or belief, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy, genetic information (GINA), or gender identity and expression.
