JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Economists prepare and conduct research, analysis and studies of economic, social, fiscal and other factors in
relation to topic of study.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position supervises the Covered Employment and Unemployment Unit located in the Research & Analysis Bureau. Knowledge of Nevada's labor market information programs and products, including labor force, unemployment and employment data is required. Ability to manage, maintain and edit informational databases is required. Experience using database and statistical software including MS Excel and Access is necessary. An understanding of Nevada's industries and industry classification concepts is preferred.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, labor economics, econometrics, statistics or a related field and three years of professional experience in conducting statistical/economic data collection, analysis and research involving the application of advanced statistical, mathematical and economic principles and research modeling; OR one year of experience as an Economist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
