Conservation Staff Specialists assist in developing, formulating, and coordinating programs, policies and procedures related to areas such as resource management, safety and training, fire management and policy management pertinent to the assigned area of natural resource management, preservation, conservation and protection.
This position works within the Department of Agriculture, located in Carson City, NV. The selected candidate will be responsible for the research and analysis of information to include existing documents, reports and scientific literature related to the conservation, enhancement and/or restoration of sagebrush ecosystems in Nevada as related to the agriculture industry. The incumbent will work with multiple agencies, landowners and other jurisdictions in the development of plans, methods and procedures to ensure the success of the Sagebrush Ecosystem Program. Additionally, this position prepares professional reports and presentations to support recommendations for consideration of the Sagebrush Ecosystem Council (SEC). The selected candidate will use approved habitat modeling and other scientifically vetted tools to ensure the highest level of defensible documentation to address habitat impacts related to anthropogenic and natural disturbance activities within the sagebrush ecosystem.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, ecology, natural resource management, forestry, parks management, fire management or related field and three years of journey level professional experience in a relevant resource management field that included assisting in developing, formulating, and coordinating programs, policies and procedures; coordinating special grant programs and/or contracts; and/or coordinating training programs; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
