Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.
This position is located in our Carson City office at 555 Wright Way within the Information Technology Division. The division is comprised of four distinct work groups: Applications, Systems, Production Control and Networks.
This position is responsible for accurately documenting Helpdesk tickets, Software/Hardware installation, procedures, project notes, and inventory control of equipment. This position is responsible for providing customer support in a timely and professional manner to all customers 24/7. It requires the timely completion of projects, including the planning and communication with all entities involved. This position requires a thorough knowledge of all aspects of dealing with WAN/LAN technology and requires demonstrable technical abilities with Windows 2008 server operating systems and virtualization. Must be able to maintain switches and wiring, and communicate with the EITS WAN Group. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for all areas of system security in accordance with written procedures.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
