The Position
Correctional Nurses provide professional nursing care to patients in a correctional setting.
The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Correctional Nurse II position to be located at the Nevada Youth Training Center in Elko, Nevada. NYTC is a 60-bed staff secure facility for male youth age 14 to 18 located in Elko, NV. NYTC's goal is to promote positive self-growth, create change in behavior, attitudes, values and ways of thinking. The responsibilities include providing professional nursing care to juveniles in the facility; maintaining pharmaceutical, laboratory and basic nursing supplies; responding to medical emergencies.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    License as a Registered Nurse and two years of professional nursing experience, one of which was in a correctional or institutional setting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    A Bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or Associates degree in nursing and one year of experience.
    As a condition of appointment and continuing employment, positions are subject to call-back, overtime on short notice, stand-by status, and must work various hours and/or shifts including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Special Requirements
    CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Some positions require a valid driver's license at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
