Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position provides clinical nursing oversight for the medication clinic at NNAMHS. Responsible for the day to day operations of the clinic, staff, and schedules of the prescribers. Works closely with the Medical Director to ensure that the clinic is properly staffed. May assist with recruitment and hiring of prescribers under the direction of the medical director. Responsibilities will include, hiring, training, evaluations, discipline of all nursing and administrative assistants in the clinic. Will work to coordinate care between outpatient departments as well as with the inpatient hospital. Will closely collaborate with the Agency Director, Director of Nursing, and Outpatient manager to meet the needs of the agency. Will review data collected in determining assignments, and staffing needs, as well as auditing documentation for content and quality. The successful candidate will assist the agency in developing community partnerships and assuring that clients are appropriately referred to preferred providers. Creativity, organization, and management skills are essential components of this position.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada and three years of professional nursing experience, two of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness or intellectual disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Nurse II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
