Conservation Educators plan, organize, implement and evaluate educational programs designed to teach hunter and boating safety, environmental concepts and other wildlife related areas to the public, and participate in public relations activities.
This position will coordinate and manage Hunter Education and Angler Education Programs for northwestern Nevada; coordinate, recruit, supervise, train, and schedule all Outdoor Education volunteer instructors for education programs in the Western Region; maintain and track technical reports on student data and instructor volunteer hours for federal aid grants; and present and develop conservation seminars and educational clinics. Public hunting and fisheries education seminars include: antelope seminar, turkey seminar, hunting tag application seminar, project wild and aquatic wild classes, Trout in the Classroom training classes for teachers, and angler education classes and clinics. The position leads agency participation in regional events such as the Wild Sheep Foundation expo.; prepares a weekly fishing reports; and as assigned, writes for publications, helps with videotaping efforts or radio presentations, and prepares visual aids and equipment. The position also assists with research or other writing projects; supports coordination efforts of Regional Outdoor Education Coordinator with Hunter Education and Angler Education; develops regional hunter and aquatic education budgets; and assists in maintaining the Trout in the Classroom Program (TIC).
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, journalism, communications, outdoor recreation/leadership/education, wildlife management, biology or related field and one year of professional experience in conservation education which included presenting educational programs, preparing educational plans, writing news releases, developing written materials for publication, and/or preparing and presenting radio and television broadcasts; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR one year of experience as a Conservation
Educator I in Nevada State service. |

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |

Statewide travel is required. |

Occasional nights and/or weekends may be required. |
