JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Biologists conduct fisheries, wildlife and/or habitat management projects and research studies including data collection, analysis and interpretation; develop and implement project proposals and work plans; prepare recommendations; and participate in public relations activities.
The incumbent will manage the water development program in Northern Nevada to expand usable habitats and improve populations of game and non-game wildlife by means of water development, maintenance, and improvement. Job duties include, but are not limited to: planning and coordination, gaining clearances from land managers/owners, managing budgets, purchasing equipment and materials, maintaining equipment, maintaining water developments, installation of new developments, supervising crew and participating on crew as a team member, managing water development database and maintenance log, as well as coordinating and facilitating volunteer projects with conservation organizations.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, wildlife management or closely related field and one year of professional wildlife management experience such as conducting research studies including data collection, analysis and interpretation; development and implementation of project proposals for fisheries, wildlife and/or habitat management projects; OR one year of experience as a Biologist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Work may be performed under adverse weather conditions and include extensive walking under difficult conditions in remote and/or primitive locations.
Working on occasional nights and/or weekends may be required.
Special Requirements
Statewide travel and outdoor work is required.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
