The Nevada Division of State Parks is recruiting for a Park Maintenance Specialist supervised out of the Southern Region Headquarters office in Las Vegas with a primary duty location at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park near Blue Diamond, Nevada. The incumbent performs maintenance duties at this location and at other State Parks.
Park Maintenance Specialists perform a variety of skilled work in the buildings and mechanical trades in order to repair, construct and/or maintain buildings, grounds, and utilities. Positions also perform maintenance and minor repairs to equipment and vehicles.
Incumbents work under the general direction of the Southern Region Facility Manager. This position will participate in the area of facility management by planning projects; inspecting work completed by contractors, provide information regarding facility needs. In addition, these positions operate a variety of heavy equipment.
Incumbents may be required to work various hours and shifts including holidays and weekends.
The position requires knowledge of structures, facilities, systems and equipment; national, state and local buildings and fire codes; standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the building and mechanical trades. Prepare work orders and specifications. Read and interpret plans and electrical schematics. Plan projects and layout materials, estimate materials and time required to complete projects; operate various testing equipment; Safely perform a variety of skilled work including: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, welding and HVAC.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Four years of progressively responsible experience in two or more of the major building or mechanical trades and two years of journey level experience which included responsibility for performing a variety of repair and maintenance activities, laying out jobs, ordering material and the operation of heavy equipment; OR two years of journey level experience as a Maintenance Repair Specialist I in Nevada State service which included experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Specialist II which included experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.
This position may be subject to call back.
As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions at the Division of State Parks may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A valid commercial driver's license is required within 12 months of the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A Water Distribution Operator I certification is required within 12 months of the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
This position requires the incumbents to be EPA certified to recover refrigerant and recharge equipment within 12 months of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
