The Position
Registered Dietitians provide nutritional care and medical nutrition therapy for individuals and groups in institutional, clinic, research, community and residential settings and provide nutrition education to clients/patients and families in accordance with accepted professional practices and standards.

This position supports the Nevada State Veterans Home (NSVH) located at 100 Veterans Memorial Drive in Boulder City. Boulder City is located just minutes away from the City of Henderson. Our mission is to provide skilled nursing services to veterans, their spouses, and Gold Star parents. Our nursing staff-to-resident ratios promote quality patient care and our "team" approach encourages participation at all levels. "Quite simply, our mission is 'Caring for Nevada's Heroes,' and we do this by providing high-quality care in an atmosphere that emphasizes resident choice and dignity." -NSVH Administrator. The State of Nevada offers an exceptionally competitive benefits package, including a variety of medical benefit options, 11 paid holidays, three weeks annual leave, and three weeks of sick leave per year. In addition, the State of Nevada's Public Employees Retirement System is a superior retirement program. Under the direction of the Nursing Facility Administrator, the Registered Dietitian 2 is responsible for monitoring and assuring meal quality and evaluating the performance of the food services contractor in an ongoing fashion. In addition, this position will provide nutritional care and diet therapy for geriatric residents; develop, implement, and monitor individual and group dietary plans; review data from resident's medical file; identify nutritional needs for each resident; document dietary plans in resident records; monitor and oversee food preparation to ensure nutritional plans are being upheld each day and ensure daily adherence to proper food handling, sanitation and safety practices and the efficiency and accountability of food service. Experience in a Long Term Care Facility is preferred but not required.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Current registration and licensure by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and one year of professional experience as a Registered Dietitian.
Special Notes
    Per Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 640E, persons appointed to this class must be licensed as a Registered Dietitian in the State of Nevada. A temporary license may be granted, pending dietitian licensing in the State of Nevada, to a person who holds a corresponding license in another jurisdiction.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
