Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This Psychiatric Nurse (PN) 2 position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of Health and Human Services at Desert Regional Center in Las Vegas. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, and friendly co-workers, and is a great place to work. The mission of the ADSD is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible. This PN 2 vacancy is located at the 24 Hour Intermediate Care Facility/Intellectual Disability (ICF/ID) Campus. This is a very rewarding and specialized field of nursing working with individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities, Mental Illness and closely related conditions. The PN II is responsible for the medical coordination of care, by evaluating, assessing and personalizing each individual's physical, psychological, and health condition, thereby developing Individual Support Plans which are delivered by an Interdisciplinary Team approach. The PN II administers treatments and medications per physician's orders and must make assessments, choices, determinations and judgments in all aspects of their work. This position provides oversight to LPN's assigned to their homes and shifts. Must establish and maintains a good rapport and working relationships to foster intra and interdepartmental communications necessary for the delivery of quality care. The PN II will follow NRS/NAC 632 - Nursing rules and regulations as well as DHHS, ADSD, DRC policies and procedures and Medicaid and CMS regulations for ICF/ID facilities. This position requires two years of professional nursing experience, one of which includes working in a facility or institution with individuals with Mental illness, Intellectual Disabilities or related conditions.

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada and two years of professional nursing experience, one of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness or intellectual disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Nurse I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A Bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or Associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience.

CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
|
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
|
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. |
