The Position
Registered Nurses provide general or specialized professional nursing care in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. The position supports Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS). The mission of the agency is to help adults with mental illness improve their quality of life. We currently have positions available at both Rawson Neal Hospital (RNH), which provides acute psychiatric inpatient treatment for adults with serious mental disorders, and our new Stein Hospital, which is a secure forensic hospital providing inpatient forensic services for adults who are court committed. Incumbents provide professional nursing care to mentally ill adult clients and are an integral component of the clinical service team. Incumbents participate in a multidisciplinary team managing a wide variety of patients and diagnoses.
Dynamic work responsibilities include assessing and identifying patient health care needs; making comprehensive clinical observations and evaluations; preparing nursing care plans; administering medications as prescribed by a physician or designee; monitoring patients for medication side effects and/or allergic reactions. This is a full-time position that may include weekend and holidays shifts. Incumbent will be working an innovative variable schedule with overtime after 40 hours per week. While this position is anticipated to be assigned in the Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital or Stein Hospital, in Las Vegas, agency positions may be assigned to any SNAMHS work location. This position requires completion of respirator fit testing and completion of Certification in Conflict Prevention and Response Training. Incumbent must keep license, CPR certification, and Nevada Driver's License current. SNAMHS provides continual on-going training and education to our staff, including paid release time for attending approved trainings and the availability of on-site CEU's. Some positions may be eligible for an additional 5% Shift Differential pay. ***THROUGH A CAREER WITH SNAMHS, YOU CAN HELP IMPROVE THE LIVES OF OTHERS IN OUR COMMUNITY***
