The Position
Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVACR) Specialist's perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
--The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR) Specialist 1 position in Facilities Maintenance Services. The HVACR Specialist 1 position will perform repair and preventative maintenance work; non-routine maintenance and repair requests; work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment; and assist the central heat plant and HVAC shop as needed.
--The typical work schedule for the HVACR Specialist 1 is Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. These positions are designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Completion of a recognized HVACR apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires experience ensuring safety and compliance at job sites.
    This position requires experience with heating equipment and systems.
    This position requires experience with air ventilation equipment and systems.

    This position requires working with and around hazardous building materials, frequent lifting, climbing, and moving heavy objects; vibration and electrical hazards; and working in small spaces and on ladders.
