The Position
Maintenance Repair Aids perform manual labor and unskilled work to assist with facility operations and maintenance.
--The University of Nevada, Reno, Facilities Maintenance Department is recruiting for a full-time Maintenance Repair Aid 3 assigned to the Moving Crew. The incumbent will be responsible for office moves, deliveries, warehouse maintenance, event set-up and breakdown, haul construction debris and other duties as assigned. The position will require lifting, carrying and moving items up to 90 pounds frequently.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    One year of experience performing manual labor and unskilled work; OR six months of experience as a Maintenance Repair Aid II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Additional Position Criteria

    This position requires experience operating equipment used for deliveries and moving (hand trucks, lift gates, delivery vehicles, tie downs, etc.)
    This position requires experience operating basic hand and power tools (hammer, screw driver, tape measure, power drill, etc.)
    This position requires the ability to read and interpret work orders and operation manuals.
    This position requires some experience with proper lifting techniques and the ability to safely lift and move heavy objects. This position will require lifting, carrying, and moving items up to 90 pounds frequently.
    This position requires basic computer skills (ex. navigating email, pulling up calendars, basic Word documents, etc.)
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
