The Position
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is seeking applicants with a passion and desire to make a difference in the lives of Nevada's children! This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in an Accounting Assistant II position, within Children's Mental & Behavioral Health. As an Accounting Assistant II you would have the opportunity to work with the Medicaid fiscal team that reviews, reconciles and submits billing for Children's Mental Health Services to various funding sources, and learn from experienced fiscal professionals dedicated to serving Nevada's children, families and communities. This position is a challenging and rewarding position with the potential for advancement! The candidate chosen would work at Northern Nevada Child and Adolescents Services located in Reno, Nevada, on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.
This is a full time position that includes a variable work agreement with a work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. In addition the State of Nevada and DCFS offer an excellent benefits package that includes health, dental and vision insurance, participation in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), accrual of 15 days of annual and 15 days of sick leave, 11 paid holidays and no city, county, state or social security tax! To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents; using computer spreadsheets to record, track, manipulate and report data; balancing accounts; and identifying and applying established financial recordkeeping procedures; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
The Examination
If there are five or fewer qualified applicants, the exam will consist of an application evaluation. (This statement does not apply for Until Recruitment Needs are Satisfied (URS) announcements).
CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
