Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
The Accounting Assistant II located within the General Services Division will be responsible for preparing and processing travel requests to include travel reimbursements for divisional staff. This position will also be responsible for the general clerical accounting duties to include coding and entry of accounts receivable and accounts payable documents. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents; using computer spreadsheets to record, track, manipulate and report data; balancing accounts; and identifying and applying established financial recordkeeping procedures; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Experience with accounts receivable is required.
The Examination
If there are five or fewer qualified applicants, the exam will consist of an application evaluation. (This statement does not apply for Until Recruitment Needs are Satisfied (URS) announcements).
CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
Qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
