JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
This position, in the State of Nevada Energy Assistance Program (EAP), provides eligible households with energy assistance
benefits and will be located in Las Vegas. The incumbent will make eligibility determinations based on document completion and established program procedure and policy; maintain client confidentiality; communicate with clients and vendors;
issue vouchers; and input information into the computer to keep client file information current. The incumbent will also explain program rules and reporting requirements to clients; serve as liaison between the Energy Assistance Program and other agencies and departments; and may refer clients to other community services as appropriate. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Additional Position Criteria
This position requires work experience in a public assistance setting (e.g. Temporary Assistance for Needy Families [TANF], Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program [SNAP], etc.) that included reviewing applications for services to ensure completion and proper document attachments.
The Examination
CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
Qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
