The Position
Community Based Instructors conduct a variety of outreach educational programs to individuals and/or groups of people in a variety of community settings, which may include schools, civic and senior centers, camps and other meeting facilities.
--The University of Nevada, Reno Cooperative Extension, Southern Area is recruiting for a full-time Community Based Instructor 3 for its All 4 Kids: Healthy, Happy, Active, Fit Program located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The purpose of this job is to oversee existing and new marketing enhancements which involves developing and promoting program messaging over multiple social media outlets (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) and expanding the reach to larger audiences; utilizing appropriate, trending social media, software and analytic tools to track reach for specific low income and grant-specific audiences; and creating digital images and video production to promote access and appeal for healthy foods and physical activity at specific grant sites. Environmental approaches also include teacher facilitation at assigned sites and train-the-trainer support which requires in person training and ongoing support of preschool teachers conducting the program.
--The typical work schedule is variable to include weekdays with occasional nights and weekends; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of relevant work experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires 20 minutes of physical exercise and/or dance several times a day.
    This position works a variable schedule to include weekdays with occasional nights and weekends.
    This position requires lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
    This position requires having a valid driver's license at time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.
    This position requires relevant work/volunteer experience teaching or instructing adults and youth in a learning environment.
