Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Psychiatric Caseworker 2 position is located with Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services with the Forensic Mental Health Team in Sparks, Nevada.
The Forensic Mental Health Team is an intensive case management program for high users of services, including individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, legal involvement, and recent psychiatric hospitalization with a caseload of 16 consumers. Duties to include: develop and implement treatment and after care plans; coordinates with other agencies, organizations, community and support systems; monitor services to ensure achievement of the goals identified in the treatment plan; provide support and assistance to consumers and their families to facilitate the return of consumers to the least restrictive environment possible; ensure appropriate resources are available to the client to achieve identified treatment objective; document client observations and progress in accordance with agency policy in the electronic medical record, review, evaluate, monitor and update treatment plans and client charts in accordance with prescribed standards to ensure compliance with established laws, regulations, policies and requirements for agency reimbursement including billing forms. This position will require the ability to work a on call schedule when needed.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and two years of experience in a mental health or intellectual disabilities setting, one year of which must have included professional casework experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services for a caseload consisting predominantly of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level. |
