Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is with the Nevada Division of Emergency Management (agency), Grants, Recovery and Mitigation Section, located in Carson City, NV. The incumbent shall prepare reports on actions and activities as established by the agency and assist in the monitoring of programs. High quality candidates shall have a proven ability to work with others, be self-motivated, possess strong organizational skills, and be willing to travel on a limited basis. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work independently with little or no additional training and may provide work direction and training to others. This is a challenging position requiring the ability to provide the utmost customer service to both internal State employees, and external stakeholders. Effective, professional communication is required to collaborate with multiple parties.
As a member of this agency, activation of the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) may occur in the event of a major emergency. All positions in the agency perform a role to support the SEOC operations. This may serve to disrupt/alter/ revise or totally change all previously established work performance standards, requiring 100% of time until the emergency is over. During activation, the SEOC may be in operation 24/7 for an extended period of time to include holidays and weekends.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in public administration or a related field and one year of previous experience in planning, coordinating or administering a program; OR one year experience as a Program Officer I in Nevada State service; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and five years of previous experience in planning, coordinating or administering a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. |
|
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. |
|
