The Position
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THE POSTED CLOSING DATE DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Located within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy, Program Research and Development Unit. This position assists with the responsibilities of the Quality Improvement program and projects for Home and Community Based Services and other Unit Projects. The purpose of the position is to ensure that all federal and state quality requirements are met, that health, safety and welfare of Medicaid recipients are ensured, to ensure or improve the quality of long-term support systems, and that quality assurance activities result in collaborative, data driven system changes. The duties of this position require extensive professional work product and preparation of detailed reports. The position is located in Carson City, with occasional travel required. Heavy use of the Microsoft family of desktop software programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) is necessary to fulfill the positions requirements.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    The ability to travel at least 25% of the time is required.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires work experience in an investigative, auditing or related position which required the application of state and/or federal laws, policy and procedure, or guidelines in making compliance determinations.
