Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
This recruitment will be used to fill multiple positions on construction crews within District I, Las Vegas. Incumbents will assist the Resident Engineer and Assistant Resident Engineer maintaining and managing a construction field office and a construction field laboratory, including facilities for materials testing, physical properties of Portland Cement/Concrete, bituminous mixtures, soils and untreated aggregates, physical and chemical properties of treated aggregates; planning, organizing, directing and overseeing the work of technical employees engaged in construction inspection and surveying. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Note: This recruitment will be used to underfill multiple Professional Engineer positions within District 1, Las Vegas Construction. Incumbents may move to the next level in this series upon meeting the minimum qualifications, with satisfactory performance, and with the endorsement of the appointing authority.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Employees in this class who are not registered professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities.

Applicants for Staff I, Associate Engineer who have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering examination given by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying are not required to take the State's written test.

|

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. |
