JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
These positions are located within the Department of Transportations Structures Division, Design Section. Incumbents are responsible for developing structural design documents and providing construction support services for highway construction projects; performing structural engineering analysis and design of reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, and steel structures; and performs structural analysis and design of highway structures using the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Bridge Design Specifications.
Note: This recruitment will be used to underfill multiple Professional Engineer positions within the Structures Division. Incumbents may progress to the next level in this job series upon meeting the minimum qualifications for that job class, with satisfactory performance, and with the approval of the appointing authority.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Employees in this class who are not registered professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities.
Applicants for Staff I, Associate Engineer who have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering examination given by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying are not required to take the State's written test.

The Examination
