The Position
Education Programs Directors, Supervisors, and Professionals assist and foster the growth of early childhood, pre-K, K-12, postsecondary, adult, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.
Under the direction of the Office of Student and School Supports Director at the Nevada Department of Education, this position provides leadership to support effective literacy programs Kindergarten through Grade 3 in Nevada's schools. As part of this oversight, the position provides guidance, professional development and technical assistance for educators, administrators, family members, students, policy makers, and others regarding laws and educational practices related to effective school literacy programs. The position facilitates work groups and task forces; establishes actionable frameworks; provides grants management and budget oversight; engages in compliance and performance monitoring for literacy programs; assists in the development of school, district, state and/or federal grant applications; and collaborates with department staff, district and school based educators, administrators, parents, students, university faculty, and other partners. The Department is especially interested in candidates with expertise or experience in implementing effective literacy programs for children Kindergarten through Grade 3. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    An earned Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and one year of professional experience in an educational program area; OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and two years of professional experience in an educational program area.

    Positions require program-specific education and/or experience which will be identified by the agency at the time of recruitment.
Special Requirements
    Positions require statewide travel.
    Some positions require a Nevada teacher's license at the time of application.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Possession of a license to teach in Nevada is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
