The Position
.
Appraises motor vehicles in wrecking and tow-yards for sales tax purposes and for abandoned vehicle liens; determines value and legal methods of disposal; inspects vehicles identification numbers to determine legal ownership; provides information regarding lien procedures and mandatory paperwork for title processing and vehicle registration; and performs related work as required.
This position is located in our Elko office within our Field Services Division. Under direction, appraises motor vehicles in wrecking and tow -yards for sales tax purposes and for abandoned vehicle liens; determines value and legal methods of disposal; inspects vehicles identification numbers to determine legal ownership; provides information regarding lien procedures and mandatory paperwork for title processing and vehicle registration; and performs related work as required. Position appraises and researches abandoned motor vehicles to determine monetary value, verify state of registration, preparation of reports, assists customer with lien sales and restoration of vehicle identification. This position also provides training and direction to motor vehicles inspectors.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education (GED) and two years of progressively responsible experience involving the appraisal and inspection of vehicles; OR one year of experience as a Motor Vehicle Inspector II in Nevada State service six months of which involved the appraisal of motor vehicles.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.

1) Do you have experience in vehicle serial number or vehicle identification number verification? If yes, please provide time frames.
2) Do you have experience as an instructor or trainer in the automotive industry, including course development? If yes, please provide time frames.
3) Have you completed coursework in mechanics, safety and/or automobile appraisals? If yes, please provide time frames.
4) Do you have automotive industry experience as a body shop/auto dealerships or insurance appraiser, auto dismantler or tow truck operator, auto mechanic or as a safety inspector? If yes, please provide time frames.
