The Position
Compliance/Enforcement Investigators perform investigative and enforcement functions to monitor compliance and enforce State and/or federal laws or regulations pertaining to a specific program or regulatory area.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This position is extremely important to monitor the Clark County cab companies as well as the cabdrivers to be sure that the NRSs and NACs are being followed and that the riding public is being serviced according to their Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity. If POST certified, applicant MUST submit a copy of their valid current Nevada Category I or II P.O.S.T. Certificate electronically with their application. Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required. PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE THAT ARE CURRENTLY POST CERTIFIED. This position is being recruited to underfill the Compliance/Enforcement Investigator 2 position.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, police science, psychology, business administration or closely related field; OR high school graduation or equivalent and two years of professional investigative, law enforcement, or program related experience where standard investigative and enforcement techniques were utilized to make program compliance determinations, enforcement of state and federal laws, preparation of detailed reports for the purpose of justifying administrative sanctions, penalties or criminal prosecution. Work experience may be obtained in a law enforcement, investigative, regulatory or comparable setting.
Special Notes
Incumbents carry firearms in the performance of their duties and must maintain a quarterly qualifying score of 70 or better with a firearm.
Applicants for the Compliance/Enforcement Investigator I class must meet minimum standards for appointment as a peace officer as established in the Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code.
Incumbents may be required to operate an authorized emergency vehicle.
Special Requirements
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
Incumbents must pass the Peace Officer's Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) fitness level Category II and possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the essential functions of the positions as a condition of continuing employment.
Incumbent must meet firearms qualifications/certification standards and proficiency requirements as established by agency policy.
A law enforcement agency cannot appoint a person to this position if they have been convicted of a felony in this State or any offense, which could be a felony if committed in this state.
A law enforcement agency cannot appoint a person to this position if they have been convicted of any offense involving the illegal sale or manufacture of controlled substances.
Additional Position Criteria
Applicants must submit to a background, medical, polygraph and psychological evaluation prior to employment.
Applicants must pass a physical agility exam prior to employment.
The incumbent is required to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
