The Position
Drivers operate assigned vehicles to transport passengers and materials from specified locations in accordance with agency policies and safe driving practices.
--The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a part-time Shuttle Bus Driver. Duties include: operating a shuttle bus on assigned routes, transporting students and staff; performing a pretrip safety inspection before operating the shuttle bus; assisting disabled riders by utilizing lifts and securement devices; keeping the shuttle bus clean and fueled; identifying repairs as needed and performing additional duties as assigned.
--The typical work schedule is 30 hours a week Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm varied schedule; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    One year of experience driving vehicles that require a commercial driver's license.
Special Notes
    Driver-Shuttle Bus positions are subject to random testing for drugs and alcohol per Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49, Chapter III, Part 382.
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires a valid Nevada Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's license and Passenger Endorsement.
    This position requires experience transporting passengers for a business or employer.
    This position requires the ability to work a varied schedule.
    This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours.
    This position requires lifting up to 50 pounds.
    This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.
