JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Temporary, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Agricultural Inspectors perform sampling and inspection of agricultural products at shipping point inspection facilities, and participate in pest control and noxious weed eradication; check and grade condition of fruits and vegetables, and assist plant pathologists and entomologists in the preparation of samples for analysis.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Division of Plant Industry is recruiting for two seasonal positions to perform field inspections and surveys for noxious weeds under the supervision of noxious weed program coordinator. The position will be located and based in Sparks, NV. The incumbents will be required to travel to major agricultural production areas, rangeland areas, and sage-grouse habitat areas across the state of Nevada. Main duties include inspecting hay fields and gravel pit areas for noxious weeds, surveying for and mapping noxious weed infestations, and performing initial noxious weed regulatory site visit documentation collection. The incumbents may be assigned to assist in other related plant industry disease and field surveys as assigned.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience in agricultural sciences or related sciences performing agriculture duties; OR one year of experience as an Agricultural Inspector I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination or education and experience.
Special Requirements
50 % Travel requirement.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Flexible and/or rotating shifts are required.
