Equipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify fleet equipment comprised of a variety of light, medium, and heavy automotive and maintenance equipment, landscape equipment, computerized testing equipment, and diesel-fueled electric power generators.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Performs all scheduled maintenance on NHP vehicles operating in your assigned command; must have a working knowledge of all test equipment used in our assigned maintenance shop; Maintains division vehicle maintenance records and files; Maintains parts inventory controls and follows Division guidelines for proper procurement of parts at the lowest cost to the Division; Must have the ability to inspect, diagnose, and test all operators' complaints; Completes new vehicle builds as required; Attends all training classes as required by the Division; Inspects all NHP vehicles that are involved in accidents to advise what course of action is needed to repair the vehicle.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Completion of a recognized automotive/equipment repair apprenticeship program; OR completion of the Equipment Mechanic-In-Training program in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
