Equipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify fleet equipment comprised of a variety of light, medium, and heavy automotive and maintenance equipment, landscape equipment, computerized testing equipment, and diesel-fueled electric power generators.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Position is integral to the operation of the southern complex management area system located at Overton Wildlife Management Area as the equipment is vital to the operation of the area requiring regular maintenance/repair by a qualified mechanic. The position performs maintenance and repair work on vehicles and non-automotive equipment; operates heavy equipment, farm type equipment, and small power equipment; performs minor carpentry repairs on area buildings, and performs maintenance work on various public use facilities; performs minor plumbing and electrical repairs; transports equipment; attends various meetings and assists in collection of public use data and hunter and angler harvest data by assisting with the operation of an area user check station; provides information to the public; and performs wildlife crop management as needed.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Completion of a recognized automotive/equipment repair apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level experience; OR one year of experience as Equipment Mechanic II in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. In addition, federal law required random testing for controlled substances during employment.
