The Position
Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisors and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors manage a caseload budget; determine eligibility or ineligibility; assess vocational rehabilitation needs; develop individualized plans for employment (IPE); coordinate the delivery of services; provide counseling and advocacy services; provide appropriate job placement; and determine employment outcome in order to minimize disabling conditions and reduce dependency for individuals whose mental or physical disability presents a barrier to employment and/or self-sufficiency.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This recruitment is for multiple Rehabilitation Counselor I's for vacancies located in Carson City, Reno, Las Vegas and Rural communities. Rehabilitation Counselor I's manage a caseload budget; determine eligibility or ineligibility; assess rehabilitation needs; develop individualized plans for employment (IPE); coordinate the delivery of services; and provide counseling and advocacy services for individuals whose mental or physical disability presents a barrier to employment and/or self-sufficiency. The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor provides services to our clients to return to employment. This includes gathering intake information as well as medical documentation to determine eligibility. The counselor may collaborate with medical professionals, training specialists, JobConnect and other vendors to assist with the client in returning to work.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling or health, social or other related behavioral science.
Special Notes
Within 90 days of hire, the incumbent is required to enroll in an approved educational plan that will result in eligibility to sit for the Rehabilitation Counselor Certification exam within thirty-six months from the date of enrollment.
