Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
This position is Monday through Friday 3:00pm-11:30pm and variable shift work may be required. Incumbent is responsible for supervising the swing shift for the Criminal Records Unit that is part of the Central Repository of Nevada Criminal History Records. This position's main functions are: 1) The proper maintenance of criminal arrest records, including updates and corrections to State and FBI criminal justice information systems; 2) To perform daily work assignments in conjunction with their supervisory duties to include the prompt processing of court-ordered criminal record seals. Other duties include: supervising 2 employees and up to 10 temporary data entry employees which includes: training, conducting performance evaluations, following progressive discipline policies in regards to employee performance. This position requires certification in NCJIS/NCIC within six months of employment and recertification every two years for continued employment. Certification will be conducted by the Division. THIS DIVISION DOES NOT CONDUCT PHONE INTERVIEWS.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The incumbent is required to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.

The Examination
CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
