JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Auditors conduct audits on accounts, records, activities, operations and/or internal controls of individuals, business organizations, State agencies or other government jurisdictions subject to State taxation or regulation to ensure compliance with State and federal rules and regulations and legal requirements and/or proper safeguarding of agency funds.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

Under general supervision, the Auditor II will conduct financial audits of mining companies for the net proceeds of minerals tax. The Auditor II will evaluate financial information provided by net proceeds taxpayers and from other published sources such as audited financial statements, public company filings, and engineering reports and will develop meaningful audit conclusions based on a demonstrated knowledge of audit planning and procedures. The Auditor II prepares formal audit plans, including determining sample sizes and selection methodologies, and will decide how to sample data to be able to make audit conclusions about the objectives of the audit. In addition, the Auditor II will conduct performance audits of county officials to determine performance effectiveness of the property tax system; conduct audits of counties for real property transfer tax; render assistance to county recorders; maintain real property transfer tax manuals, propose regulatory changes and provide training to county recorders as necessary; defend audit conclusions in appeals to administrative law judge or Nevada Tax Commission; and reconcile real property transfer tax collections and distribution. This position has a 25% travel requirement.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in accounting and one year of professional level auditing or accounting experience involving analyzing financial information and making recommendations based upon that analysis; OR one year of experience comparable to an Auditor I in Nevada State service; OR graduation from high school or an equivalent education and four years of auditing or accounting experience involving analyzing financial information and making recommendations based upon that analysis and six semester credit hours in accounting from an accredited institution; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. NOTE: Minimal post-secondary coursework of six units in beginning accounting is required.

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
This position requires moderate travel.
Transcripts of college credits are required.
Skills Required
This position requires GAAP accounting experience.
